Vision
Jesus said " I am the living bread that came down from heaven. If anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever. This bread is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world." (John 6:51)
Our vision is to see the hungry fed, but more than this to see those who are hungry able to feed themselves through the provision of the word of God and discipleship. Though support and training, and in the care of the poor and the vulnerable in society.
We talk of peoples physical and spiritual needs, and have a number of projects for which we need partners. India is a populated country. It is a country that has many languages and many religions. However, India has a largely unreported but proud heritage of Christian life.
We desire to help those in physical and spiritual need through these projects and are continuing to develop the team to meet peoples spiritual need though the preaching of the word of God.
. We believe that together we are stronger than when we try to stand alone and that when we stand together then the blessings of God are multiplied to the benefit of all
We recognise that the vision that God has given us is bigger than we can currently attempt, therefore like the man from Macedonia we ask "Come over and help us." Yet we have started the work of the vision in Faith.
History
Zeal Gospel Church began in Bangalore on January 27th 199, in response to God's call to Bishop Rajakumar.
The First church building was constructed of coconut leaves but this was a time of much blessing and joy". Bishop Rajakumar and his wife Jothi(late) was used by God in a powerful way.
People would come along and experience the miracles of God and numbers increased day by day In 1994 the church was able to provide more substantial premises, but the roof was still made of coconut leaves. When people who were sick came to the building God proved to them that he was real by healing them. This was a time of great excitement and many people were set free to find the love of Jesus Christ. Many people came and found hope that had been missing from their lives.
Zeal of Gospel moved into new premises, the churches patron objected and the church was knocked down at the end of 1999. All this time the church continued to grow in numbers. More and more people came along. It was during this time that Pastor Raja Kumar's wife died. It was a time of much heartache.
The church then had to move to the Pastors house, where services are held on the roof. Unfortunately there is not enough room and the church holds two services one in the Tamil language and the other in Kannada the local language of the state of Karnataka. Later the church rented a near by community hall every Sunday for two year.
At present for the past five years the church has leased a floor. God continues to bless the church and the church is looking for a larger building to be able to continue to grow as God brings people into the services.
During all these years God enabled us and lead to pioneer and plant churches in villages in Trichy and in six churches in Thiruvannamalai.
The heart of Zeal Gospel Church is to give our best, that God may turn our best into something beautiful, which brings life and freedom.
